More than 100 attendees participated in ºìÐÓÊÓÆµâ€™s College of Aeronautics and Engineering’s (CAE) Girls in Aviation Day Saturday at the ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ Airport. The global event is sponsored by Women in Aviation International (WAI) to introduce and encourage girls to pursue careers in aeronautics and aerospace.
The FedEx Aeronautics Academic Center and airplane hangar served as ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ ºìÐÓÊÓÆµâ€™s venue, while 118 individual events presented worldwide for the WAI event which reached approximately 20,000 attendees. In addition to the United ºìÐÓÊÓÆµs, Girls in Aviation Day was celebrated in 18 countries in Canada and Australia as well as countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.
ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ featured alum Stephanie Johnson, a captain at United Airlines as the keynote speaker. Role models, learning about flight, exploring airplanes, airports and a host of hands-on, fun activities took place in this annual event. Watch the CAE calendar for our 2020 date.
