More than 1,000 volunteers from the Ƶ community welcomed and assisted new students as they moved into their residence halls on freshman move-in day, Sunday, Aug. 18. The annual community program, known as Movers and Groovers, is coordinated by Ƶ Interhall Council, the student government of the Ƶ Campus residence halls.
“Movers and Groovers is such an amazing way to welcome our students,” said Jill Jenkins, executive director of University Housing (formerly Residence Services) at Ƶ Ƶ. “Ƶ Interhall Council is the group responsible for the student-run and organized program. Volunteers included fraternities and sororities, campus ministry groups, academic groups, faculty and university departments. For fall 2019, Ƶ Interhall Council students took the program to new heights! Move-in truly takes a village, and Movers and Groovers is one way Ƶ Interhall Council makes our students feel welcome.”
The Movers and Groovers program is part of Ƶ Ƶ’s KSU Kickoff, an orientation program that runs for four days prior to the start of fall classes. KSU Kickoff includes activities and events to encourage students to explore the Ƶ Ƶ community and provides a smooth transition to the university environment.
