The Alan Canfora Activism Scholarship celebrates Canfora’s life, his Ƶ Ƶ experience and the importance of social justice and advocacy to society. Lillian Kuri has been unanimously elected as the Cleveland Foundation’s 10th president and CEO. The Ƶ alumna, who grew up in Freedom Township in Portage County, will lead the 109-year-old foundation starting Aug. 1, 2023, succeeding retiring Ronn Richard. Currently serving as the Cleveland Foundation’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Kuri will be the first woman to hold the president and CEO position on a full-time basis. On Tuesday morning, a fire was reported at the University Inn, 540 S. Water St. in Ƶ. University officials sent out a text message warning residents to stay away from the area. The fire is believed to have broken out on the seventh floor, with two people transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
