ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ students who traveled to Jackson ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ University during an alternative winter break trip had in-depth, hands-on exposure to survivors of the May 15, 1970, police shooting, which killed two people; the youngest Freedom Rider, Hezekiah Watkins; and the home of Myrlie and Medgar Evers, a National Monument.

Feb. 1 marks the start of Black History Month. The chair of ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ's Department of Africana Studies and the current president of Black United Students at ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ discuss the university's connection to the monthlong celebration.
