Administrative policy regarding accommodations for student religious and spiritual beliefs

  1. Purpose. The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures to reasonably accommodate the sincerely held beliefs and practices of individual students with regard to all examinations or other academic requirements and absences for reasons of faith or religious or spiritual belief system consist with section 3345.026 of the Revised Code.

Last summer, Ƶ at Ashtabula student Breanna “Bre” Cole met with English professor Abigail Bowers, Ph.D., about reigniting the campus’s LGBTQ+ club, KSUA Allies, a group that promotes and supports members of the LBGTQ+ community attending the Ashtabula Campus.  With Bowers serving as the club advisor, Cole took the lead in growing the club and hosting regular meetings and special events, highlighted by “The Gayme Event” afternoon of activities for all students this past spring.
